Interview Preparation Checklist

Subject Preparation:

  • Choose 2-3 subjects you know DEEPLY

  • Prepare to prove, not just state, key results

  • Practice explaining on paper

  • Know all edge cases and complexity analyses

Research Motivation:

  • Articulate WHY you want to do research (specifically)

  • Name 2-3 IIITH faculty/labs that interest you and why

  • Know 1-2 papers or projects from those labs

  • Have a clear research interest area (doesn’t have to be fixed)

  • Have all academic certificates

Day-Of:

  • Join as soon as you get the link and keep waiting
  • Relax. Nervousness is normal but breathe
  • Think out loud during the interview
  • Say “I don’t know” clearly when you don’t, then reason from first principles
  • Ask clarifying questions if needed
